Media Statement re: AHCA Final Order for Calhoun Liberty Hospital
BLOUNTSTOWN, FL (September 16, 2016) – “Earlier this week, the Calhoun Liberty Hospital reached a settlement agreement with the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Based on the administrative complaint filed by AHCA, the hospital was facing administrative fines up to $56,500. Under the settlement agreement, the hospital has until April 3, 2017 to pay $14,500. The balance of the fine ($42,000) will be held in abeyance pending the continued implementation of Agency-directed quality assurance measures for two years.
“Our hospital is a vital part of our community, and we appreciate this opportunity to continue our operations knowing we will be able to satisfy not only our financial obligation, but also our commitment to high quality patient care. Recent visits from AHCA have indicated we are making tremendous progress, and we are immensely grateful to those who have made this development possible.
“Our community needs this hospital, and our hospital needs this community. We will continue growing stronger together.”
